Many schools speak powerfully about preparing students with transferable skills that matter in college and beyond, yet turning these aspirations into measurable outcomes remains a challenge. How can we move beyond rhetoric to evidence? How can we be accountable, internally and externally, for the skills we claim to cultivate?

Our panel of leaders from public, independent and international schools will share how we emphasize the transferable skills necessary for student success using skills-based portfolios. We will discuss how we define and operationalize durable skills in the life of the school. Whether using tools like the MTC Learning Record or some other method, we aspire to track growth, document evidence, and communicate progress to students, families, and colleges. Participants will discuss the challenges and opportunities of this work with one another and with the panelists.
